Plans and goals

It is the long-term goal of the Guild to construct a permanent blacksmithing shop at the Illiana Steam and Power Association grounds near Rainsville, IN. Most of our fund-raising efforts are directed towards raising money for this project. Currently, we have built a building without walls; a pavillion in which we demonstrate blacksmithing during the Steam and Power show. We have added a lean-to for machining space, and a separate shed for storage. Our next effort will be to enclose the structure with walls, and to complete its electrification.

The ongoing or continuous goals of the Guild are to promote safety and workmanship in blacksmithing, to educate each other and the public in the blacksmithing trade, and to have a lot of fun beating things with hammers.
