Meetings

Rocky Forge Blacksmith Guild meetings are usually held on the second Saturday of each month. Meetings generally begin at 8:30 AM with coffee and social time, with a business meeting at 9 AM, frequently followed by blacksmithing demonstrations, and then forge time for everyone. We have taken to holding a potluck lunch sometime around noon. During the winter, we occasionally arrange for blacksmithing-related meetings, such as visiting welding shops and steel plants. Alternately, we may arrange for a demonstration of some interesting technique, method, or equipment.

Most meetings are held at our blacksmith shop at the Illiana Steam and Power show grounds. Contact us for directions and information.

Events Calendar

June 8, 2024

We will meet at 9 AM at the Illiana shop for a morning of fun and forging. We will be making items to sell for the Illiana show. In addition to iron-in-the-hat, we will have a number of tools for sale on a 50/50 basis. Lunch is hamburgers and baked herbal potatoes; bring a side dish, and cash for iron-in-the-hat. July 13, 2024

We will meet at 9 AM at the Illiana shop for a hammer-in and work weekend. We will prepare for the Illiana show; bring your schedule with you, so we can set the show schedule. We also have a number of tools for sale, brought in by Darrell Schulze, in addition to our regular iron-in-the-hat. Lunch is fried chicken; bring a side dish, and cash for iron-in-the-hat and tool sales. Details are in the July newsletter.
 

July 19-21, 2024

This is the yearly Illiana show! We plan to have the shop open from 8 AM to 6 PM (3 PM on Sunday). Please plan for projects to do during the show, and remember that interacting with the audience is important.
